Ray PulfordThanks to Ray Pulford of Team Pallatrax for joining in with ‘An Interview with…’:

Q: How often do you fish and what do you fish for?
I fish 4-6 nights/days a month and I fish for all species. I fish for Carp, Perch, Pike, Roach and Chub in winter then Carp, Barbel (upto end of season), Tench and Bream in spring. Summer sees me fishing for whatever takes my fancy but Autumn is serious Carp and Barbel time.

Q: What do you think are the most pressing issues in angling today?
Predation and a lack of youngsters learning grass roots angling. There are too many predators in the British isles depleting fish stocks. Not enough youngsters are taking up angling and if they do they sit behind carp rods and soon loose interest due to the industry misleading them into thinking big carp are easy to catch.

Q: Give us some PB stats – what are you most proud of and why?
Mirror carp 58.08lb (world) 37.12lb (English). I have caught carp from 11 countries and english 30lb+ fish from 6 english counties. I also held the South African record for largest carp caught on rod and line in 2000.
