Whilst recovering from my op i heard the really sad news of Kev Green’s sudden and untimely passing. I didn’t know Kev really well but over the last year or so we have chatted about Crabtree and the various things we were planning to do with the TV, book and tackle range. I always found him to be a really nice chap, funny and direct and full of enthusiasm for all things fishing and especially in helping and teaching others.

I know that, along with being a passionate all round angler, he was very involved in helping and getting youngsters and new people into the sport he loved so much.

My other association with him was that I regularly fish Graham Harman’s Lac Meunier in France. This is the lake that got Kev all excited about fishing in France and it was there that he filmed an ep of Carp Crew with Brian Skoyles. If you haven’t seen the ep its worth a watch as they caught some lovely fish from this beautiful and intimate lake. Those fish are now even bigger and the place is magical.

The last time I spoke with Kev was when I was travelling over to France for a week at Meunier. He called to chat about Crabtree and to see how things were going and I wound him up to say that I was off fishing over there. He said he couldn’t wait to get over again but with other commitments and a young family it was going to have to be put on the back burner for the time being.

Kev was decorating his second baby’s bedroom that evening and it is that incredibly poignant and overwhelmingly sad image I have when I think about Kev. My heart goes out to his wife, children, family and friends.

Note – I have recently chatted with Graham Harman at Meunier and we have agreed to site a bench at the lake in the garden swim area in Kev’s memory.
